The San Francisco F-Liners is a member of the San Francisco Gay Softball League. We play in the Recretional (Golden Gate) Division. Spring 2001 was our rookie year. We are composed mostly of 1st and 2nd season members, though many of us have played in gay leagues elsewhere in the US.
The team name is derived from the F-Line electric powered street cars, of the MUNI system, that travel Market Street in San Francisco. These street cars are a collection of vintage cable cars from across the world and have been used on the MUNI system for about 6 years. Each one is labled with the city of its origin. The F-Line is also one of the MUNI lines that feeds directly into the "Castro", one of the predominantly gay communities in the city.
In our 1st season as members of the SFGSL we finished the season in 4th place with a 6-6 record. We were able to take home the 3rd place trophy from the end of season tournament after being knocked into the losers bracket early. It was a long day, but we all had a ball. |
